Police arrested a man early Wednesday morning who is accused of hitting a woman with a wooden stick at a southwest Oklahoma City home.
According to police, at about 2 a.m., an officer responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 2700 block of S.W. 42nd in Oklahoma City.
As the officer knocked on the door, a woman opened the door and said "no one was injured and no one called police."
However, the officer asked the woman to bring the injured person. The woman returned with the victim. But when they reached the front door, the woman pushed the victim outside and slammed the door, according to the police report.
Police said the victim was bleeding from a gash in her forehead. She also had scratches on her left forearm.
The victim told police that the suspect, 35-year-old Bruton Clark, was fighting with his girlfriend. The victim was trying to separate them when Clark became angry and hit her on the head with a wooden stick.
According to the police report, when the officer spoke to Clark, Clark was unsteady on his feet and had droopy eyelids. The officer said he could smell an alcoholic odor on Clark's breath, and noticed he had a slurred speech.
Clark was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and public drunkenness.
