After a 15-year hiatus from the area, Dairy Queen opened for business in Moore on Tuesday.

The location at 19th Street and Telephone Road is about a mile south of the Warren Theater, an area that was hit especially hard by the Moore tornado last May.

"Man, I just can't tell you how awesome it feels to be back home with the Dairy Queen brand," said David Jones, who owns two other restaurants in Moore.

Jones grew up two blocks from the new location and is a 1980 graduate of Moore High School. He also worked in Norman at an Orange Julius when he was in high school.

"Dairy Queen fans are so loyal, they're so committed," he said.
