Police are beefing up security in the Bricktown and Downtown areas Tuesday night in anticipation of huge crowds.

With a Thunder game, Barons game and "Opening Night" at the Myriad Gardens, thousands will be in the area.

As final preparations were being made ahead of New Year's Eve in Downtown OKC, police were also gearing up.

"We bring in division officers, additional resources to make sure that the crowds are safe. So you will see a lot more officers in the Bricktown and Downtown area than you would see on a normal night," said lt. Audrea George with OCPD.

With so many events going on, Oklahoma City Police want everyone to remember the rules at each venue to stay out of legal trouble.

"The biggest thing to remember will be if you are leaving an event with alcohol is permitted, you have to leave that alcohol at the event because you can't walk around with alcohol inside the opening night venue," George explained.

Officers cannot keep an eye on each of the tens-of-thousands of people expected to pass through the Bricktown and Downtown areas on New Year's Eve so they need the public's help.

"If you have a problem or see something suspicious you need to contact an officer and let them know and we'll take care of it," George said.
