Authorities ID Man Shot And Killed By 95 Year Old Near Sallisaw

A man shot and killed Saturday near Sallisaw has been identified by the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office.

The man has been identified as Van Buren resident Clinton McCormick, 29. The suspected shooter is a 95-year-old man who lives in the Central High community near Sallisaw, KFSM 5 News reports.

Sheriff Ron Lockhart said their investigation shows McCormick went to the elderly man's house and threatened him. The 95-year-old told authorities he shot McCormick once when the younger man tried to attack him, the CBS affiliate reports.

The case will go to the district attorney's office to determine if any charges will be filed, the Sheriff said. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.
