Spencer police arrested three teenagers Friday in connection with a string of home burglaries in north Spencer.

According to police, the three were driving a late model Buick in the area of N.E. 46th and Woodland Park, when alert neighbors witnessed them acting suspiciously and called police.

Police say the neighborhood off N.E. 46th and Douglas and Woodland Park has had a rash of residential burglaries. Since December 11, officers have taken six separate home burglary reports.

During these burglaries, officers say the suspects are known to knock on the door to see if anyone is home. If no one answers the door, they kick open the front or back door and mainly take televisions, gaming systems and other electronics.

Two 15-year-old's and a 16-year-old were taken into custody at the scene. Officers say they also found the stolen 1988 Buick, the same vehicle involved in an attempted home burglary on December 18.

During that burglary attempt, witnesses were able to get the tag number of the vehicle and give officers the names of the two suspects, who were seen trying to break into a home and fleeing the area before officers arrived.

The Buick had been reported stolen out of northeast Oklahoma City. When officers searched inside the stolen vehicle, they found 60 baggies of marijuana, weighing about 146 grams.

Police say the teenagers had close connections to Spencer, and several are suspended students from Star Spencer High School.

One of the 15-year-old's was a suspect in an auto burglary at a local church several months ago, where he fled the area and dropped his cell phone and hoodie.

The victim of that crime didn't want to file charges against the teenager, who has a lengthy juvenile record.

According to police, two of the arrested juveniles already have a criminal record with one being on probation. The 15-year-old, who's on probation, was taken to the juvenile detention center. The other two suspects were released to their parents.

All three are facing very serious charges, including unauthorized use of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary, and drug trafficking charges due to the large amount of marijuana found in the car.

Officers are actively looking for an 18-year-old male suspect they believe was also involved with the crimes.

Investigators believe one of the juvenile suspects and the 18-year-old are connected with other burglaries that have occurred in the area and possibly northeast Oklahoma City.

Police are not releasing the identities of the suspects.
