Great temperatures will continue through Thursday with parts of the state getting close to 70 degrees. The attention then shifts to a strong cold front and a winter storm that will move into the plains Friday. This system will exit early Sunday before daybreak.

The one ingredient that may not be as strong with this system is the cold air. This will keep the heaviest winter precipitation in the northern and western parts of the state. This will continue to be monitored.

It still should be a strong system, so we should expect a broad area of heavy rainfall. Some areas may pick up over 1 to 2 inches of rain! Far northwest Oklahoma may see as much as 3 to 6 inches of snow.

The snow will continue Saturday night across northwest Oklahoma as the system winds down across the state.

With the storm's current track, Oklahoma City has a chance of some winter precip, but will be on the edge. The metro may not see very much snow at all.

One concern will be the heavy rain from Saturday; it could ice up Sunday morning. Temps will drop below freezing Saturday night as strong north winds take over, so whatever is wet during the day Saturday will become icy by Sunday morning.
