State Treasurer Ken Miller gave a check worth $10,529 to a Krebs Elementary School student for his college savings account.

Miller presented the check to fifth-grader Jaxon Walters during a ceremony at the elementary school Monday. The money will go toward Walters' Oklahoma 529 Colleges Savings Plan. Walters's grandfather entered the boy into the contest.

In addition, Krebs Elementary was awarded $10,529 to help advance technology offerings for students.

Miller says he encourages parents and grandparents to give money to the Oklahoma College Savings Plan account for their child or grandchild.
