A group hoping to install storm shelters in all Oklahoma public schools is holding its final signature-collection event this evening.

"Take Shelter Oklahoma" needs 160,000 signatures to put a measure on the state ballot to fund school storm shelters. The measure would ask voters to approve $500 million in state bonds to pay for the construction of those shelters.

Gov. Mary Fallin has said she supports the effort to put shelters in schools, but is concerned about how to pay for them.

The group needs 160,000 signatures to get the measure on the ballot. "Take Shelter Oklahoma" is holding an event Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bin 73 on N. Western in Oklahoma City.
