OKC Police Identify Suspect Shot, Killed By Officers

Police say 30-year-old Simon P. Ramirez died at the scene following the shooting.

Oklahoma City police have identified the suspect that was shot, killed by officers Wednesday evening.

Police say 30-year-old Simon P. Ramirez died at the scene following the shooting. According to police, officers were randomly searching for stolen cars in the area of S.E. 44th and I-35 when they spotted a Ramirez and woman inside a stolen vehicle. Police say the two ditched the vehicle and ran.

According to Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City Police Department, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers shot Ramirez after he crossed into a portion of I-35 SB carrying a gun. Nelson said the suspect pointed the gun at officers and oncoming northbound and southbound traffic. Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.

Two officers are on administrative leave pending the investigation.
