'Reindeer Run' To Benefit Children Crisis Counseling

Run your socks off in the Reindeer Run to support NorthCare's CrisisCare for Kids and help make a difference in the lives of Oklahoma's children. Once again, the Oklahoma City Running Club, the Landrunners, has selected the NorthCare Reindeer Run as a part of their 10k race series.

Race day is Saturday, December 7. Race time for 5K and 10K will be at 9 a.m. The race will start in NorthCare's south parking lot at 4436 NW 50th. Prizes and awards will be distributed at the conclusion of the race.

This is the fifth annual Reindeer Run and the organization is continuing the tradition with "Crazy Socks!" Wear your craziest, most interesting socks and participate in the 5k or 10k run through local neighborhoods. There will be prizes for the "craziest" socks.

"All proceeds from the race will benefit crisis counseling for children," said race director Jennifer Arlan. "Each year NorthCare works with over 2,000 children impacted by child abuse, neglect and mental illness. This race is the only event NorthCare has to support these services and your support is greatly appreciated."

NorthCare's CrisisCare for Kids provides hope when you need it and is a 24 hour-a-day, seven day a week service that provides care where ever and whenever it's needed. Our highly compassionate staff helps kids find their reasons for living and teaches them to deal with their problems through a variety of best-practice programs. CrisisCare goes out into the community, school or home.

Crisis Counseling for Children is designed to provide high-quality outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents and families that have been impacted by trauma. Children who have experienced trauma such as abuse or neglect can recover from the physical and emotional harm of being victimized. NorthCare provides a safe and therapeutic environment to work through the trauma and related feelings.
