A soggy mildew mess is displacing residents of a Norman apartment complex. Tenants say their landlord is not doing nearly enough to fix the problem.

People living at Ashton Place apartments in Norman say the only solution is being allowed to break their leases. Otherwise, tenants say their health is at risk. After spending two nights with soaked carpet, LarBraire Edmundson and her children got some attention but little relief Tuesday.

"Nothing got done Monday," Edmundson told News 9. "Nothing got done at all. They have to get this [carpet] up out of here, no matter how much it's going to cost. It seems like they don't want to pay."

Cell phone video broadcast on News 9 shows the mess at its worst. Water is seen covering the entire first floor, forcing the 28-year-old mother of six to the second floor. Residents say four units at Ashton Place are wet, and they want to know when the problem will be fixed.

Apartment management did not want to talk on camera. Off camera, the property manager told News 9 that the complex is working to make things right. In the meantime, Edmundson says she just wants out.

"They can't just suck the water out," said Edmundson. "They have to pull the padding."

The landlord has booked reservations at a nearby hotel for the next two nights. After that, tenant aren't sure what will happen.
