Many of the families found out about the loss of their children while waiting at the First Baptist Church in Moore.

News 9 met with one man who is helping them through their grief these many months.

"Several of the families said we're totally devastated. We have no clothes. We have no car. We have no house," said Stu Tully, who has helped counsel the families known as the Plaza Towers 7. "They said we have nothing to bury our children in. We have no idea what we're going to do."

Tully says he even helped plan all of their funerals, and officiated three of them. And over the past six months, he's been there to lend an ear to talk to, or a shoulder to cry on.

"Well it's been excruciating for them of course, unspeakable pain at the physical absence of these precious children who they loved," said Tully. "And in every case, you know, hugged and kissed their children and said ‘I love you see you tonight!'"

Tully says he knows what it's like to lose a child. He lost his own granddaughter to a terminal genetic disorder last December.

"The devastating loss of our own grandchild just a few months before the tornado, she was about the same age as some of these children," said Tully. "It has allowed us to be more than sympathetic but empathetic with these dear folks."

He says the best thing people can do is to show love to those who lost family members in all the May storms - and to definitely not ignore them.

"These dear families don't need lectures. They don't need sermons. They need arms around them and tears shed with them," affirmed Tully.

Tully says he and many of the people at the First Baptist Church in Moore plan to continue helping the families in the years to come.
