Lawyers To Contribute 5,000 Thanksgiving Turkeys

Attorneys from across Oklahoma raised more than $70,000 to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families this holiday season. Lawyers Fighting Hunger will distribute more than 5,000 frozen turkeys to families in Oklahoma City, Norman, El Reno, Tulsa, and Mustang.  

Karen Jacobs, Administrator of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Office of Community and Faith Engagement, says the turkeys will provide a Thanksgiving meal to thousands of needy Oklahomans.

"We are so grateful that our community partners at the McIntyre and Bernstein law firms have joined forces to help families during the Thanksgiving holiday," she says.

Oklahoma City attorney Noble McIntyre says this is the fourth year the group has participated in the turkey giveaway. 

"Thanks to more than 60 different law firms throughout the state, contributions from local businesses and Oklahoma City Fire Department Local 157, we purchased turkeys and food boxes for needy Oklahomans across the state," says McIntyre.

Norman attorney David Berstein says providing turkeys to low-income families is a great way to give back to the community.

"I want to thank the attorneys, chiropractors and others for donating money to help the less fortunate enjoy a great Thanksgiving," says Bernstein.

The turkeys will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis at the following locations:

                Nov. 20 - McIntyre Law Offices, 8601 S. Western Ave., Oklahoma City

                Nov. 21 - Bernstein Law Office, 104 W. Gray Street, Norman

                Nov. 22 - El Reno Fire Department, 2707 Faith Ave.

                Nov. 25 - The Vault, 620 South Cincinnati, Tulsa

                Nov. 25 - Mustang Fire Department, 465 West State Highway 152     

Registration at locations in Oklahoma City, Norman and Mustang will begin at 11 a.m. with turkey distribution from Noon until 2 p.m. Registration at El Reno begins at 9:30 a.m. and in Tulsa at 5:30 p.m. 

One turkey will be given away per family until all turkeys are gone. Free hamburgers, hot dogs, bottled water and sodas will be served to everyone at the distribution sites.
