Mike Gundy A Semifinalist For Coach Of The Year Award

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania -

Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the 2013 Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year Award, it was announced today by Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski.

The field of semifinalists was selected by the MFC National Selection Committee and will be narrowed through a voting process. Semifinalist voting for the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year award will begin Nov. 21 and close Dec. 2. Finalist voting will take place from Dec. 3 to Dec. 15, and the winner will be announced Dec. 17. Eligible voters include Maxwell Football Club members, NCAA head football coaches, sports information directors and selected national media.

Gundy has guided the 2013 Cowboy football team, which is ranked No. 10 in the BCS Standings, to a 9-1 overall record on the year. This is the third time in the last four seasons that OSU has started with a 9-1 record or better through its first 10 games. Prior to Gundy taking the head coaching position at OSU in 2005, the Cowboys had only one 9-1 start in 102 seasons of football. This is also the fourth time in school history OSU has won at least six conference games, with all of them coming under Gundy in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.

Already the recipient of several coaching honors during his career, Gundy's awards include the 2010 Big 12 Coach of the Year, 2011 Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year, 2011 Paul "Bear" Bryant National Coach of the Year and 2011 American Football Monthly National Coach of the Year.
