How To Give This Holiday Season Without Being Taken By Scams

The holiday season is fast approaching, and this is the time of year when people tend to open their wallets and purses, and donate to charity.

We talked to Tracy Ann Miller, the CEO of Red River Advisors, to get some tips on how and who to choose when it comes to donations.

"Do some research," said Miller. "Think about types of charities you would like to give to; don't just think about the trendy things".

When you do select an organization, you should check its legitimacy. Miller suggests visiting IRS.gov and guidestar.org when investigating charitable organizations.
