While millions of Americans share stories about being dropped by their health insurance and hit with astronomical rate hikes for new policies... we're not hearing much about it in Oklahoma.

There's a reason for that.

Under this new law, when your health insurance renews if it's not exactly the same price and coverage as it was the year before you don't get to keep it. You have to find one that fits the strict new guidelines.

That brings us to Oklahoma.

The biggest providers of individual health insurance in Oklahoma asked the state for permission to delay their renewal until December 1st of next year.

The Insurance Commissioner's office told me today that they agreed to let the Obamacare dust settle a little bit before Oklahomans had to get in and boy does that look like the right decision.

Simply put, that means most of the 100 thousand Oklahomans who buy their own health insurance are getting letters like they do most every year that their premiums are going up maybe 10 percent, but since it's not a renewal they don't have to find a new policy that fits under Obamacare guidelines.

Consequently few Oklahomans have had to hit the problem plagued Obamacare website.

A year from now.. those people will have to jump in.. and maybe a lot of us who get our insurance through our employers will too.. but a lot can change in a year.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
