Several Tulsa doctors are home after a trip around the world to help refugees. The members of missionary group, In His Image, arrived at the Tulsa airport Tuesday afternoon.
They were in Northern Iraq for 10 days as part of a medical mission, treating people displaced by the Syrian War.
The doctors say their medical skills were important, but more than anything, the refugees needed kindness.
"They needed somebody to listen to them, needed somebody to hear their story," said Mitch Duininck. "They needed somebody to hug them and cry with them and support them, and say, 'You know what, the world hasn't forgotten you. God loves you, we love, we care about you.'"
The group is based at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. They plan to return to help more refugees.
