Two metro law enforcement agencies are letting the world know about their arrests on Friday. They are taking part in a day-long international police tweet-a-thon with law enforcement agencies from around the world.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office has taken part in this tweet-a-thon before, and says it has helped raise awareness within the community about what they really do on the front lines.

Now, Edmond Police are following suit, and we tagged along.

This is what we encountered while joining the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office on their Friday morning sweep -- two men, wanted on warrants, placed in handcuffs.

"We've been out since about 7 o'clock this morning and we've already made about six, seven arrests," said Mark Myers with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.

Not only were the arrests captured by our cameras, but they are now going out on the World Wide Web on the Sheriff's office Twitter feed.

"This is what they do every day, they are the modern day posse is what we call them," said Myers. "And they go out and round up people. So I have just been hanging out with them and tweeting what they've been doing."

Edmond police are also keeping the Twitter universe informed about their routine on Friday. Everything from traffic stops to sobriety testing are being documented.

"We're trying to push our social media let the people of Edmond know what our officers face in a day in day out basis," said Jenny Monroe with the Edmond Police Department.

Both agencies are hoping opening the lines of communication will help the community at large understand what they go through every day, and encourage citizens to respond and interact.

More than 200 law enforcement agencies representing more than ten countries took part in the global tweet-a-thon back in March. They sent out more than 48,000 tweets in more than 25 different languages.

You can follow both the Sheriff's Office and the Edmond Police on Twitter using the #POLTWT or #EdmondPD and #OKCountySheriff.
