Former Representative Randy Terrill denies all wrong doing. He is on trial for allegedly offering former Senator Debbie Leftwich an $80,000 a year job if she promised not to seek re-election.

Prosecutors allege Terrill created the job for Leftwich by sneaking it into a reform bill, during a chaotic time, the end of the 2010 legislative session. A theory the defense worked to dispel with its first witness, former Senate President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee

"I'm glad the truth is finally coming out," Terrill said.

Terrill made that remark following Senator Coffee's testimony from Senator Coffee. In court, Coffee denied any involvement in trying to get Leftwich a job. He told the jury, Leftwich first mentioned she was considering not running for re-election in March 2010, two months before she actually made the announcement.

The defense further challenged the state's case by calling campaign managers and those who drafted the legislation to create the job allegedly offered to Leftwich. Prosecutors fired back, trying to show the defense's witnesses were either friends of Terrill or contributed to his earlier campaigns.

Outside of the courtroom, Terrill said it's clear he's made some powerful people mad and is ready to restore his reputation.

This trial is nearing an end. Both prosecutors and Terrill's defense attorney have declined to comment until there is a verdict in this case.
