Authorities say a man was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his pickup truck into an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper's patrol car on Sunday in southwest Oklahoma City.

It happened at S.W. 29th and Walker. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2010 Dodge Charger driven by Trooper Mystal Perkins, and a 2004 Nissan Sentra driven by 20-year-old Julian Moreno, were westbound on S.W. 29th when they both stopped for the signal light at Walker.

A 2008 Ford F150 pickup driven by 26-year-old Juan Gonzalez was also westbound on S.W. 29th when it crashed into the trooper's car, pushing it into the rear of Moreno's car.

Troopers say Gonzalez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was transported to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for head injuries.

Gonzalez was then taken into custody on several charges, including DUI, driving without a license, resisting arrest, and possession of a control dangerous substance.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Troopers listed the cause of the collision as "drinking, ability impaired" in the OHP collision report.

According to the OHP, Moreno tried to run away from the scene following the crash for an unknown reason. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. It is unclear at this time what charges he will be facing.

The crash caused $5,000 of damage to Trooper Perkins' patrol car.
