A man is arrested late Thursday late for DUI following a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of his father in northwest Oklahoma City.

According to police, at about 10:45 p.m. two motorcycles driven by 22-year-old Cass Ryan Marchant and his father crashed while traveling eastbound on N.W. 138th Street.

Police say the two were speeding, and they failed to negotiate a turn onto Joel McDonald Drive. The motorcycles then crashed into a parking lot.

As officers arrived at the scene, they said they could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on Marchant's person. They said he had "glossy watery eyes and a slurred speech."

Marchant's father was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marchant was transported to the hospital to be checked out for his injuries. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Oklahoma County Jail on DUI and speeding charges.

This isn't Marchant's first run in with the law. Chickasha police arrested Marchant two months ago for public intoxication and carrying a loaded gun while under the influence.
