A mobile home park that has stood next to Chickasha's Municipal Airport since World War II will soon be no more.

On Monday the city council voted to give residents a year to take their mobile homes and move somewhere else.

Mayor Hank Ross says the park—that has 12 mobile homes—needs nearly $200,000 in improvements to bring it up to city code. He says tenants who move out in the next six months will be reimbursed $300.

However, Charlie Helm says that's not nearly enough. He's lived there 30 years, and has planted dozens of trees in his back yard.

"I'm proud!  I enjoy this! To me this place is holy," he said.
