NORMAN, Oklahoma - Some brazen thieves targeted a metro car dealership, ripping off a dozen vehicles. In just one night, someone stole five vehicles from Reynolds Ford and Reynolds Mazda in Norman.

The owner is offering a $5,000 reward to close the case. Over the last 60 days, thieves have stolen 12 vehicles totaling about $400,000.

The thieves had to leave behind one of the vehicles that got stuck in the mud last week. When the dealership recovered the vehicle that same night and got it back behind the gates, the crooks came back hours later and successfully stole the vehicle.

"I don't know if they've got a mail order that they're trying to fulfill orders on or if they just got a little bit of everything," said owner, Dale Daniels.

The dealership has insurance on all the cars, but it still has to cover the deductibles.

"It's really a setback," Daniels added.

Daniels said he believes a team of crooks is responsible and does not think this is a one-man job. He thinks it is happening overnight or early morning, although the vehicles are secured at night, the gates are locked and the dealership no longer keeps lock boxes containing keys on all the vehicles.

The car dealership has no surveillance cameras.

"I don't recall ever having that many in one night or ever having 12 of them stolen in a 60-day period," Daniels said.

Norman Police said they are considering the possibility that this is an inside job.

"My guess is, it's being sold – whether it's in parts or in whole, but it's obviously at this point been a lucrative business for whoever is doing that," said Norman Police Sgt. Jennifer Newell.

The $5,000 reward is only good if your tip leads to an arrest and conviction.
