GAME DAY TRAVEL: Road Construction Projects To Look Out For

Road construction projects that will impact travel on major highways through Sunday, Oct. 13 for game day traffic.

The following construction projects will impact travel on major highways through Sunday, Oct. 13 for game day traffic.

Statewide

I-40 narrows near Sayre, Beckham Co.:  East and westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane approximately 5 miles west of Sayre for a resurfacing project.

US-412 narrows near Hardesty, Texas Co.:  US-412 is narrowed to one lane approximately two miles west of Hardesty for a bridge rehabilitation project; be alert to temporary signals.

Oklahoma City Metro

I-35 narrowed, ramps closed in Norman area

Significant delays can be expected in this corridor. Drivers are urged to be alert to reduced speeds, heed warning signs and seek an alternate route if possible.

• North and southbound I-35 are narrowed to two lanes in each direction from Main St. to the South Canadian River bridge, south of SH-9 East as part of a bridge project. Use US- 77 as an alternate route.

• All ramps at the I-35/Main St. interchange in Norman are closed as part of an interchange project. Drivers are encouraged to exit I-35 at Robinson St. when coming from the north or at Lindsey St. from the south or avoid the area if possible. East and westbound Main St. remains open.

Broadway Ext. narrows at Britton Rd. this week

The right lane of northbound Broadway Ext. will be closed at Britton Rd. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday for bridge repair. Ramps will remain open.

I-40 narrows at Harrah/Newalla Rd. Thursday, Friday

The right lane of westbound I-40 will be closed between Harrah/Newalla Rd. and Choctaw Rd. from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Thursday and Friday for surface repairs.

Broadway Ext./I-235/I-44 project

Motorists can expect the following ongoing lane and ramp closures at the Broadway Ext./I-235/I-44 interchange. Throughout the project, drivers are advised to expect lengthy delays.

• The eastbound I-44 on-ramp from Western Ave. will be closed until further notice

• The right lane of eastbound I-44 will be closed between Western Ave. and I-235 throughout the project

I-40 lanes shifted, SH-4 (Mustang Rd.) narrowed near Yukon 2014

SH-4 (Mustang Rd.) is narrowed between Reno Ave. and N.W.10th St. and east and westbound I-40 is shifted slightly between Morgan Rd. and Mustang Rd. as part of a continuing project to reconstruct and widen I-40 and reconstruct the SH-4 (Mustang Rd.) bridge and ramps at I-40. Drivers are strongly urged to avoid the area and locate an alternate route.

Tulsa Metro

I-44/Lewis Ave. widening project - lane and ramp closures

Be alert to reduced speeds and lane shifts on east and westbound I-44 near Lewis Avenue.

• The eastbound I-44 frontage road remains closed to through traffic between Peoria Ave. and Lewis Avenue; drivers should seek an alternate route.

• The westbound I-44 off-ramp to Lewis Ave. remains closed. Use Harvard Ave. for access to Lewis Avenue.

• The eastbound I-44 off-ramp to Lewis Ave. remains closed. Drivers should use Harvard Ave. for access to Lewis Ave. during this time.

• All lanes of north and southbound Lewis Ave. are closed at the I-44 junction.

• The westbound I-44 on-ramp from Lewis Ave. is closed. Use ramps at Harvard Ave. or Peoria Ave. to access westbound I-44.

I-244/Arkansas River bridge project – lane and ramp closures

As part of a bridge replacement project, expect delays as traffic adjusts and plan ahead for extra travel time for detours on the Inner Dispersal Loop.

Lane and ramp closures until further notice include:

• The southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 off-ramp to eastbound I-244 (south leg to west leg IDL) is closed through fall 2014. Follow detour at the southeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop to east and north legs.

• The southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51ramp from Denver Ave. closed until fall 2014.

• East and westbound I-244 is narrowed to two open lanes in each direction between 21st St. to 2nd St.; all traffic is shifted to the westbound I-244 bridge.

• The southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 off-ramp to westbound I- 244/southbound US-75 (south leg IDL to Arkansas River)

• The southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 on-ramp from Denver Avenue.

• The westbound I-244 off-ramp to eastbound US-64/SH-51 (west leg to south leg IDL).

• The eastbound I-244 ramp to 7th Street and the eastbound I-244 ramp from 17th Street.

• Eastbound I-244 ramp to northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 (Arkansas River bridge to south leg) diverted to the closed ramp just to the north normally used for southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 to westbound I-244/ southbound US-75. Use caution.

Texas

Texas Department of Transportation reports that there should be no lane closures on I-35 or major highways between the Oklahoma state line and Dallas.
