Coburn, US Senate Panel Probe Alleged Abuses Of Social Security Disability

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn says he's uncovered massive fraud in the government's Disability program. So much so, he says the fund could run out of money in two years.

Monday, Senator Coburn's subcommitee heard from witnesses who say corrupt judges and doctors were helping the country's third largest disability law firm rake in millions in taxpayer money.

"Together, they moved hundreds of claimants onto the disability roles based on manufactured medical evidence and boilerplate decisions," Coburn said.

Coburn's office reviewed hundreds of random case files.

He says a quarter of those cases should never have received disability and another 20percent were highly questionable.

He says people are taking advantage of the lack of Congressional oversight to steal from taxpayers.

And Senator Corburn says, when the money runs out, it's going to be the people, who really need disability, who will pay the price.
