Authorities are searching for an escaped inmate from Jefferson County.

The Department of Corrections says 25-year-old Joshua Nelson escaped from the detention center in Waurika early Friday morning.

Nelson stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has several tattoos on his back and arms.

Nelson was convicted of second-degree burglary in 2012, and he's serving a six-year sentence in jail.
