A mother-son duo are being called bold burglars. Cheri Williams and Dusty Williams are accused of walking off stealing lawn mowers and other lawn equipment in the metro.

Bethany Police believe they later pawn the items. Investigators tracked the stolen goods back to Williams after running serial numbers through a pawn shop database.

"I'm proud to have a lawn mower," said Bethany resident, Linda Jump. "I wouldn't want to do without one."

Thieves stole lawn equipment from Jump not long ago. She suggested the Cheri and Dusty Williams consider working hard to earn money instead of allegedly taking from others.

Bethany Police said the mother-son duo stole more than 15 lawn mowers and other equipment in the city.

"Normal people don't have that much lawn equipment," Bethany Detective Mark Girten said.

Girten said Cheri Williams claimed she did not know the items were stolen.

"We're pretty sure she knew that it wasn't on the up and up," Girten said.

The Williams are accused of jumping fences and even walked right into open garages to steal the equipment.

Detective Girten said the stolen lawn equipment was later pawned in Bethany, Warr Acres, and Oklahoma City. Girten explained there are also reports of thefts in the neighboring communities.

Cheri and Dusty Williams were arrested on Thursday. They are being held at the Oklahoma County Jail for concealing stolen property. Their bonds are set at $10,000 each.

Police also warned there are multiple theft rings working the same plot. So it's a good idea to take down the serial number of your lawn equipment and store it in a safe place.
