WASHINGTON -

CBS News reports a woman tried to ram her car into a gate at the White House, leading to a short car chase and a lockdown on Capitol Hill.

The woman reportedly slammed her car into the northeast gate of the White House. The Secret Service began chasing her, and U.S. Capitol Police joined the pursuit.

According to CBS News, a Capitol police officer was injured during the chase. The short chase ended near Capitol Hill. There are reports the driver was shot and taken to a hospital. It's not known how seriously the driver was injured.

During the incident, security at the White House was tightened, and Capitol Hill was put on lockdown. Staffers were told to shelter in place, and lock all doors and windows.

The lockdown was lifted around 2 p.m.
