A police pursuit that began in southeast Oklahoma City ends after the suspect crashed out in Norman, then shot himself in the head.

Police confirm the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The pursuit began at S.E. 44th Street and High just before noon on Tuesday. During the pursuit, the suspect apparently called Moore police and said he was armed and for police to back off or he would kill himself. The suspect led OKC police and OHP southbound along I-35 to Norman where he crashed his car into another car at 24th Street and Main.

Police say the suspect shot himself in the head as officers approached him after the crash. Officers performed CPR on him at the scene but could not save him. Police say the suspect was wearing a bulletproof vest and had several guns inside his car.

Two people in the car the suspect hit were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

OKC police had been looking for the suspect for several days in reference to a domestic abuse case. He also had a kidnapping warrant out against him on a separate incident.

Police have not released the suspect's name.
