Travel agents have a warning this week for consumers - book now for holiday travel or pay more later.
Prices for Thanksgiving flights and hotel rooms typically go up 17% in mid-October.
If you're planning to travel for Christmas, those prices can shoot up 51% at the end of the month. Local travel agencies say which days you travel can help you save more money.
"If you can maybe go Tuesday and come back on Saturday or go on Thanksgiving morning and return on Monday, there's still deals out there to be had," said Dave Blew with Bayless Travel Agency.
Blew says consumers should check both online and with travel agencies to find the best deals because airlines have generally been cutting back on the number of flights they make available as they try to increase profits.
