Midwest City High School went to "closed campus" status Thursday morning when a former student went to the school without authorization.

The school isn't sure why the former student was on campus. The person was quickly located and taken into custody by Midwest City police officers.

The Midwest City Police Department says the former student was not armed.

The campus will be closed through lunch. A spokesperson for Mid-Del schools released this statement to parents:

We wanted to notify you that we are currently locked down and are having a closed campus lunch today due to an outside concern. We would like to applaud our students and staff for identifying a trespasser on our campus today. The trespasser has been apprehended and transported by the Midwest City Police Department. Classes are continuing as usual and we will remain closed campus during lunch and will resume normal routines after lunch. As always, your child's safety is our first concern. Thank you!
