Police say an investigation has revealed a fatal shooting that originally appeared to be an accident was actually the result of a husband's reckless handling of a weapon.
Oklahoma City Police have arrested 57-year-old Bernard Morris for the shooting death of his 53-year-old wife, Cynthia. Police say Bernard Morris shot his wife on September 23 in their home in the 100 block of N.W. 80th Street. After police arrived at the scene, Mr. Morris began suffering chest pains and was rushed to a hospital.

Although the shooting originally appeared to be accidental, police determined during their investigation that Bernard Morris handled the firearm in a "careless and reckless manner, resulting in his wife's death."
Mr. Morris remains hospitalized, so police booked him out-of-custody on a complaint of first-degree manslaughter. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be transferred to the Oklahoma County jail.
