County clerks are publicly elected officials.

In a statement sent to News 9 on Tuesday, Caudill says "I made a very big mistake acting completely out of character. Now I must learn from it and make sure it never happens again. I promise you it will not."

Caudill also said in the statement that she will "always continue to be honored to serve as your Oklahoma County Clerk."

A DUI complaint against Caudill is not her first brush with the law, according to witness accounts found in a 2011 Oklahoma City police report. A 911 caller reported Caudill driving recklessly two years ago.
