Police arrested a man they say tried to grab an Oklahoma City police officer's gun during a struggle.
Around 12:30 a.m. on September 17, the officer was patrolling near the Liberty Station Apartments when he tried to speak with 42-year-old Shelton Williams. Williams took off running and the officer chased him.
The officer said when he caught up to Williams on the northeast side of the complex, the suspect suddenly stopped and turned around. The officer got on his radio to notify other officers of his location, but Williams slapped the radio out of the officer's hand.
The officer said Williams then pushed him and tried to run away. The two began to struggle, and fell to the ground.
Another officer arrived on the scene and found the original officer on his back, holding Williams in a choke hold. The officer on the ground yelled that Williams was trying to grab his gun.
The second officer grabbed Williams hand and helped roll him onto his stomach. Williams was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for assault and battery on a city official, resisting arrest, obstructing, and giving false information.
