In our wireless world, a lot of us may take the Internet for granted but for many families it can be an added expense they simply can't afford.

That's why Cox is partnering with Connect2Compete, a nonprofit program that brings affordable Internet to qualifying households.

Cox says 76 percent of public school teachers assign Internet-based homework, and families without a broadband Internet connection often struggle to keep up.

This discounted service is aimed at helping families use the Internet at home for homework help, online educational materials, job searches, email and much more.

Oklahoma families may be eligible for Internet service for $9.95 a month if they meet the following criteria:

1. At least one child eligible for free lunches through the National School Lunch Program
2. Not subscribed to Cox Internet service within the last 90 days
3. No outstanding bills or unreturned equipment with Cox.

To see if you're eligible visit http://www.connect2compete.org/cox/, or call 1-855-222-3252
