Jed's Weather Blog: When Will The Taste Of Fall Arrive In Oklahoma?

One thing we can laugh about here in Oklahoma is the famously true Will Rogers slogan: "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, wait 5 minutes and it'll change."

Strangely though, our weather pattern has been very consistent these last few weeks with hot and dry weather. A lot of folks are ready for a taste of fall...Where is it?!

This time of the year we gradually or sometimes drastically 'stair-step' downward from summer to fall. I've been looking at some late month changes that you should be aware of. First will be a cold front arriving late next week. Between now and the time that front arrives it looks like we will stay in the 90's for highs. The front will arrive about the day the Oklahoma State Fair begins next Thursday and should bring a slight pattern change especially in the eastern half of the state with 80's and low 90's(70's possible far NE OK after the front passes). Despite the state fair, rain chances are just not looking that great. Temps the following week will be in the 80's or hold around 90 for much of the state.

The second and more significant change arrives the following week about the 20th(about two weeks from now). This will be a much bigger step and a welcome introduction to fall.

This front is showing lows in the 40's and 50's for the state with highs in the 60's 70's or 80's. and rain chances look much higher the last 10 days September.

There are signs that this will continue into the first two weeks of October before warming and drying back out late month.
