A scam artist is at it again here in the metro. He's a convicted felon, and he's renting out a home he doesn't own.

After our story aired last week, other victims called us to talk about the same smooth-talking salesman. Rhonald Baggott is really on probation for a 2008 forgery conviction. But for now, he's using a fake name and bogus story to cheat innocent people out of money and a home.

This lease agreement was Iisah Rhone's ticket to a nicer home. She thought she was moving to a newer neighborhood near NW 122nd and MacArthur with her fiancé and one-month-old baby girl.

"We'd just been wanting to find something that was absolutely perfect, and it just went out the door," Rhone said.

Patrick Hunley showed them the home and said he and his wife owned it. They were moving and putting it up for rent. Rhone paid the deposit and rent for the first month, and started packing. But everything changed Tuesday when Hunley sent her a text message.

"He basically told me that they couldn't move, him and his wife. He told me that the house wasn't available," Rhone said.

She drove over to the house, saw boxes on the porch and a foreclosure sign on the door.

"I absolutely was hurt because by then I knew my money was gone. I wasn't going to get it back," Rhone said.

The same thing happened to Phillip Irwin. Baggott is going by other names, Patrick or Kevin Hunley.

"I tried to call him and the phone went straight to voicemail," Rhone said.

News 9 called him on Friday, but didn't get an answer. Iisah filed a police report and just hopes Baggot is caught soon.

"I absolutely have so much animosity towards the man," Rhone said.

Rhone paid Rhonald Baggott $1,400. Another victim who called News 9 paid about the same. The home was posted on Craigslist, but it's been taken down.

Any other victims should call OKC police.

News 9 knows Baggott has also done time in prison for embezzlement. He's due in court later this month for other charges.
