A woman died late Wednesday night in a two-car crash that shut down a Payne County road for nearly three hours.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Penny Mahan of Stillwater was driving north on US 177 near 68th Street, when she crossed into the southbound lanes. Her Chevy pickup truck struck another car head-on.

Mahan's truck rolled over. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second car spun off the road. All three people inside were seriously injured. The driver was flown by EagleMed to OU Medical Center, while the two passengers were transported to Stillwater Medical Center.

The OHP is still investigating the crash. It's not known yet what caused Mahan to cross into oncoming traffic.
