She is known as the Plaza Towers "Batman teacher," and she is now feeling the love from people across the country.

As News 9 first reported in August, Becky Jo Evans' classroom collection of Batman figures was wiped out in the Moore tornado. Now, Evans has received more than 100 Batman items since the story first aired, and the kids at Plaza Towers love it.

In early August, there was just a handful of tornado-blown Batman toys and few donations in Evans' first grade classroom. That has changed.

"It's like Christmas every day," laughed Evans.

Evans grew up watching Batman with her dad, sparking a childhood collection that topped out with more than 100 action figures -- something her students enjoyed.

"[My students] came in this morning and they were like, you've got new Batman stuff … the collection is growing," Evans said.

The growth is not all thanks to News 9. It just so happens that a successful Batman blogger lives in Oklahoma City and saw the story.

"I thought, OK, I'm going to do something about this … and I started getting flooded with e-mails like crazy," said Batman blogger Tom Brookshire.

After writing a post on his blog, many of Brookshire's 4,000 visitors a day started shipping packages and even sent money directly to Becky Jo through a PayPal link on his site, www.Bat-Blog.com

"Through the whole tornado … the most impressive thing is that people just give and give," said Evans. "They hear even a glimpse of need and it's overwhelming."

Actors Adam West and Burt Ward, who played Batman and Robin in the 1960s TV series, have also reached out to Evans.

While donations continue to come in, the action figure section of Evans' collection is not back to its original size yet.
