An Oklahoma City man faces a long list of charges after police say he drove drunk with his four children in the car.

About 12:20 a.m. on Monday, September 2, an Oklahoma City police officer saw a driver swerving and speeding on southbound Interstate 44. The officer pulled over the vehicle and began speaking to the driver, 38-year-old Jose Salazar.

The officer immediately noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Salazar. He also noticed the man had red, watery eyes. The officer also saw four children sitting in the backseat of the car, while Salazar's wife was sitting in the front seat.

The officer had Salazar get out of the car and perform several sobriety tests. Salazar failed all of them. Salazar was arrested and taken to the Oklahoma County jail. He was given a breathalyzer test, which indicated his breath alcohol content was .13, way above the legal limit of .08.

Salazar was booked into the jail for child endangerment, driving under the influence, and speeding.

Salazar's wife did not have a driver's license. She and the couple's children were allowed to leave the scene when someone came to pick them up.
