Seven school districts representing 12 high schools will form the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference (COAC) beginning in 2014. Edmond's Memorial, North and Santa Fe, Deer Creek, Yukon, Mustang, Moore, Westmoore, Southmoore, Norman, Norman North and Stillwater high schools will have all their varsity and sub-varsity, male and female athletic programs operate within the new conference.

The tentative 2014 OSSAA football classifications have every COAC school in 6A-Division 1 except Stillwater (6A-Division 2) and Deer Creek (5A). However, the new conference represents a group of central Oklahoma schools that have chosen to unify for competitive reasons and will not affect district play.

The biggest advantages to the conference alignment will be consistency with scheduling, a guarantee of a set amount of athletic competitions, the continuation of old rivalries and the creation of new ones.

The 12 schools will continue to include out-of-conference games on their teams' schedules.
