George Springer hit his 30th home run of the season and the Oklahoma City RedHawks picked up their 13th win in 14 games with a 6-4 victory over the Las Vegas 51s before 5,827 at Cashman Field Friday night.

Springer belted a two-run homer the fifth inning, giving him 11 dingers with the RedHawks and now 30 total between Oklahoma City and Double-A Corpus Christi. He became the first player in the Minors to hit 30 home runs and steal at least 30 bases since former Oakland Athletics farmhand Grant Desme did it in 2009.

Springer is also just the second player in Minor League Baseball to reach the 30-homer mark this season, joining Andrew Lambo of the Indianapolis Indians.

After never holding a lead the night before, the RedHawks (69-51) got on the board in the top of the first inning. With one out, Jimmy Paredes stole second base and went to third on a throwing error. Springer followed with an RBI groundout to make it 1-0.

In the bottom of the inning, the 51s (63-55) continued their strong showing at the plate from the previous night. A wild pitch scored the tying run, and Zach Lutz delivered a two-run triple to give the 51s a 3-1 lead.

The RedHawks still trailed by two heading into the fourth inning, but took the lead after scoring three times. Marwin Gonzalez notched an RBI groundout before a passed ball scored the tying run. Carlos Perez then put the RedHawks back in the lead with a sac fly.

With a runner on and one out in the fifth, Springer connected on his landmark home run out to left-center field to extend the lead to 6-3.

The RedHawks pitching staff settled in after the first and held the 51 scoreless over the next seven innings. Las Vegas only had two runners reach scoring position between the second and eighth innings.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Brandon Hicks hit his third home run in two days to pull the 51s within 6-4. Hector Ambriz then struck out Kirk Nieuwenhuis to end the game and earn his second save with the RedHawks.

Bobby Doran overcame a bumpy first frame to earn his first Triple-A win. Doran (1-0) got through five innings and allowed three runs and six hits. He struck out three and walked two.

For the first time in six starts at Cashman Field, Matt Fox picked up the loss for the 51s. Fox (5-4) allowed six runs (four earned) and five hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out two and walked three.

The RedHawks and 51 will meet again Saturday night at 9:05 p.m. central time.
