Oklahoma City Police have released the name of a man who died Saturday night after he was arrested for breaking into cars and assaulting the occupants.

Police were called to N.W. 10th Street and Meridian Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Witnesses said 28-year-old Oral Allen Murray was pushing people out of their cars and climbing into the driver's seat, but not driving away.

When officers arrived, they found Murray trying to force his way into a gas station. According to a news release, officers used "physical force to take the suspect to the ground and gain control."

Police did not use any weapons, or what they call an "impact strike."

Murray was handcuffed and put into a patrol car, which police say was air conditioned. While officers were interviewing witnesses, they noticed Murray was suffering from some kind of medical distress. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Murray by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.

There were three officers involved in Murray's arrest. The Oklahoma City Police Department's Homicide Unit is conducting a criminal investigation, and the Office of Internal Affairs is also reviewing the case.
