Elgin Woman Killed After Crashing Vehicle In Comanche County

An Elgin, Oklahoma, woman was killed after she crashed her car in Comanche County early Sunday morning.

An Elgin, Oklahoma, woman was killed after she crashed her car in Comanche County early Sunday morning.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. on North Drive, one mile west of U.S. Highway 62 in Comanche County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 1995 Lincoln town car driven by the 58-year-old victim was westbound on North Drive, when it ran off the roadway to the left.

The driver overcorrected to the right. The car then ran off the roadway again, striking a fence, and rolled one time.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown out of the vehicle for about 12 feet from point of impact. She was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head and internal injuries.

The condition of the driver at the time of the collision is still under investigation. Troopers listed the cause of the collision as "improper turn from direction course" in the OHP collision report.

Troopers have not released the driver's identity pending notification of family members.
