OKC EMSA Paramedic Builds Wheelchair Ramp For Former Patient

An EMSA paramedic took time out of his busy schedule to help a former patient who's become a friend.

Harrison Walker responded to a call at Charisse Paul's house, and noticed she had no way to get out of her house in an emergency. Paul told him her insurance wouldn't cover the cost of a wheelchair ramp.

Paul says her landlord offered to build one, but only if she paid $600.

"I asked her what she would do if there was a fire, and she said I'd just drive out onto the porch, and I didn't find that acceptable. So I couldn't sleep safe at night knowing that she can't sleep safe at night," Walker said.

Walker said several of his coworkers donated money and offered to help him build the ramp.
