EDMOND, Oklahoma -

A world champion Paralympic discus thrower is back home in Edmond.

Jeremy Campbell, 25, trains at the University of Central Oklahoma, which is one of only 14 Olympic and Paralympic training sites in the United States.

Two weeks ago, Campbell won a gold medal at the Paralympic World Championship in France. He also was won an ESPY award for "Best Male With A Disability."

Cambell is the first Paralympic athlete to throw the discus more than 200 feet. He says his goal is to compete in the Olympic trials in 2016.

"I think I can go a lot farther, working out at this facility in Edmond I think I have more potential to achieve bigger things," he said.

Cambell's best throw so far is 225 feet, which he says puts him right on the cusp of qualifying for the United States Olympic trials.
