Neighbors Frustrated After Recent Vandalism To OKC Homes, School

People who live in one metro neighborhood say they are fed up. Last month, Bodine Elementary was broken into and vandalized. Now homes are being targeted in the same area.

Neighbors want these vandals caught, and they aren't waiting on police. One family has installed surveillance cameras to try to catch these guys.

Vandals caused more than $25,000 in damage to Bodine Elementary. Neighbors to the school think the same guys are behind it all.

Steven Colstock's air conditioning unit is all shot up, glass bottles are smashed against his home, and he's frustrated.

"I don't know what else to do," Colstock said.

He says teens in his neighborhood are tearing up his property. He just bought this wood paneling to protect his cars from BB guns.

"They kept shooting BBs at my car and my air conditioning unit. It's not even a year old. I figured $8 paneling is a lot cheaper than getting my car fixed," Colstock said.

He and his mother live near Bodine Elementary at S.E. 55th and Bryant.

The school was broken into recently several times. While neighbors are frustrated, so are the folks at Bodine Elementary.

Windows are still boarded up, and the kids go back to school on Monday. Surveillance video inside the school shows the vandals.

They tore up classrooms and even emptied the all fire extinguishers throughout the building. Neighbors think the same guys are targeting their homes.

That's why Steven has filed police reports and set up a surveillance system.

"I'm not afraid for me. I'm afraid for my mother," Colstock said.

Bodine's principal says the district is trying to get all the windows repaired by next week. The neighborhood watch and those at the school are offering up a $1,000 reward to encourage someone to come forward.
