Parents looking for a bit of a break on back-to-school clothes for their children will find it this weekend during Oklahoma's annual tax-free weekend. The state's three-day sales tax holiday begins Friday, August 2 and runs through Sunday, August 4.
The tax-free weekend comes just before the new school year begins for Oklahoma City Public Schools on Monday, August 5. Students across the state return to class in the middle and end of August.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, articles of clothing and footwear that cost less than $100 are exempt from sales tax during the weekend. What is NOT tax exempt during the weekend is "any special clothing or footwear that is primarily designed for an athletic activity or protective use that is not normally worn except when used for athletic activity or protective use for which it is designed."
