One Oklahoma family is loving their new bundle of joy Thursday night.

Their little girl is happy and healthy, and her parents call that "a miracle." News 9 visited them in the hospital today to find out what makes her so special.

Little Alyssa King was born on Monday, but her pediatrician had a hard time finding her heartbeat. That's because her heart isn't where it's supposed to be.

With a big yawn, baby Alyssa is resting her last day in the hospital. Pint-sized with her little pink headband, big brother Mason and sister Kinsley are excited she's finally here.

Mom Stephanie gave birth to Alyssa Kay King at Mercy Hospital Monday, weighing 6 pounds, 9 oz. But the next day, some concerning news came when their pediatrician came in for Alyssa's checkup.

"It took her a little bit. I was kind of concerned there for a minute," dad Matthew King says. "It was taking her a while to find her heartbeat."

That's because her heart was on the right instead of the left. In fact, all of her major organs are on the opposite side. She was diagnosed with a rare condition called Situs Inversus.

"We didn't know anything. We'd never heard about it before, so we were scared. We didn't know what was going to happen," King said.

Doctors say it can cause serious heart problems, but fortunately, medical tests showed Alyssa's heart is healthy.

"There's lots of cases of them that do have heart problems and major medical issues, and we're just real fortunate that she's perfect," King said.

She's the perfect addition to the King family. Alyssa's parents will have a necklace or bracelet made that'll let medical personnel know about her condition if she's ever in an accident.

Situs Inversus affects only about one in every 10,000 infants. The King family got to check out of the hospital this afternoon and are back home in Woodward tonight.
