Police Arrest Man Accused Of Choking OKC Cop

A man found trespassing in a vacant northwest Oklahoma City apartment tried to strangle a police officer, police say.

A man found trespassing in a vacant northwest Oklahoma City apartment tried to strangle a police officer, police say.

Police were called to N.W. 23rd and Meridian Monday night to check on a report of trespassers. When police arrived they found 26-year-old Gus Tate and another man.

Police say Tate got on top of the officer and put his hands around the officer's throat. Tate quickly let go and ran away. The officer was not seriously hurt.

Police found Tate a short time later and arrested him. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail for aggravated assault and battery upon police officers. He's being held on and a $5,000 bond.

The other man was found in the vacant apartment was also arrested for trespassing.
